Chicken Souvlaki Salad

"This recipe was in the 'food' section of our local paper a couple of weeks ago. We made it while on a camping trip, a very refreshing and different salad! It has a definite Greek taste and is very low-cal! Time does not include marinating (if you chose to do so)."

  1. What a delightful salad this was. Very refreshing and easy to prepare. I especially liked the dressing. I served it with Arabian Pita Bread #17977. My hubby enjoyed it immensly, too! Thanks!

  2. This was a delicious salad both hot and cold! The dressing was like a spicy tzatziki sauce which went very well, especially with the olives. I enjoyed stuffing this into halves of pita bread and eating it like a sandwich as well. Very tasty! Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

  3. This was excellent! It was hard to scale down for just 1 but I managed! I used a little more olive oil & added some oregano & onion powder to the dressing. I will use more yogurt & cucumber so I can have more dressing cuz it was good! I didn't use any vinegar; I just spaced it! Lettuce isn't mentioned in the salad but I used about 1 1/2 cups, plus the cucumbers, red onions & low fat feta. Very, very good!

  4. This was too die for! I LOVE greek food and this has it all! The ONLY thing I did different was to use red wine vinegar because that was all I had on hand. This is fabulous served cold on lettuce leaves or in Pita bread. I will be making this often! The ingredients are light and refreshing, and very healthy! I would give this more than 5 stars if I could! Bravo!

  5. I really enjoyed making this, and found it very easy to do so. I've made it a couple of times. Once I put it over lettuce, and added both the tzatziki sauce and a dash of Newman's Lighten Up Rasberry and walnut salad dressing, and another time made it over a pita(minus the Newman's). Both times it was delicious!

  1. Mmmmm....this was SO yummy. Hubby and I were in the mood for Greek food so I gave this a try and we were not disappointed. I used my Penzey's Greek seasoning blend in the marinade in place of the seasonings listed. It basically is the same stuff but with the addition of lemon peel and marjoram. I didn't have any cayenne for the dressing but honestly we didn't miss it. I cubed the chicken before marinating and then grilled it in my cast iron grill pan and it was delicious! We kept sneaking bites before I had the rest of the salad ready. Even my 3 yo DS loved it! We'll definitely be making this again. Thanks for a great recipe!

  2. I can't get enough of this dish! I substituted red pepper flakes for the cayenne pepper because I ran out - turned out fine.
