So easy to make and quick when everyone is starving and you don't have a clue what to have! DH and I enjoyed them so much in some rolls for lunch!

Delicious and easy--my kind of recipe! Done in 5 minutes per patty on my George Foreman Grill.

This was very good, it tasted just like the kind my favorite street vendor sells. It did make my house smell funny for a few days, though! It was very easy to make, thank goodness, because my fiance asks for it all the time! Thanks for the recipe!

Wow - this was great! I was kind of skeptical, but it really tasted like the real thing - only less greasy. I didn't think the texture would be right, but it was. Delicious!

I made the gyro meat as iinstructed, but made smaller finger-shaped patties (think kafta). I broiled them a little longer because I had the broiler set at a lower temperature. I served the meat on Arabic Pita bread and made Shaye's yogurt recipe with some small changes. I used low fat sour cream instead of yogurt and added a tablespoon of Tahina. DH LOVED this recipe and had seconds, and I loved it as well. Thanks Shaye!!! Update 1-25-09 "OMG I don't know how I forgot about this recipe, but I made it again today and my husband polished off nearly all the meat himself. This time I made it as instructed, I think. I formed the meat into 4 hamburger-like patties, then flipped them over half-way through broiling. When both sides looked beautiful and a little crispy, I allowed them to cool while I sliced up my tomatoes, then sliced up the meat into long thin strips. DH went crazy for this meal. *I never broil food, so is it normal for thick smoke to fill the house or did I do something wrong?

These are pretty good with beef, I'm sure they're even better with lamb. You can't beat the ease or time of this recipe. I put these in wheat pitas and used Gyro Sauce recipe 57747 (with yogurt).

This was very good for something a little different. My only complaint (and this is probably my fault) is that the meat was a little dry. Next time I'll try not to cook it as long!

Love, love, loved it! If I knew making gyros was this easy - I would have been making them years ago. Would have saved me lots of money & frustration. This tastes just like the ones I used to buy at the food court when I was growing up. Perfect. Thank you so, so much for sharing this. This is a jewel in my collection.

Lamb is one of my favorite meats so this recipe really spoke to me. I have never used ground lamb before so I was a little disappointed that the recipe shrinks by half in the oven. Next time I'll double the recipe!

Took 5 min to put together (I used garlic powder b/c I really didn't feel like doing ANY cooking). I shaped mine into a meatloaf and then thinly sliced into gyro strips when it was done - like they do when you buy it out. I threw it into a pita half w/ thinly sliced white onions, tomatoes, and some tzatziki from Costco and YUM - tasted like regular gyros!

Great recipe! I planned to make lamb meatballs but made this instead. So glad I did! Served with Whole Wheat Pita Bread and green salad.

I am eating the leftovers right now and they are even better than they were last night! I also used beef, and was also skeptical that it would really taste like gyro meat, but I sure was glad I doubled the recipe since everyone dug in with delight. I served it with my own tsatsiki sauce, and we were in garlic heaven. Great recipe!

Did not taste like gyro meat, at least the gyro meat I am used to. Not nearly spicy enough. We had invited friends over for dinner and we thought we would give this a try. What a mistake! Hopefully our friends do not abandon us over this.

This tastes and smells just like gyros and along with some tzazitki sauce(sp?) they were just yum. who knew gyros were so easy to make. The only change i would make, if any, would be to pan fry teh patties instead of broiling. I thought the broiling made them a bit dryish but very tasty nonetheless. Thanks so much for sharing, Shaye. PS: I used ground lamb to make these.

My DH loves gyros and there aren't any good places around here. We decided to make these together. they were perfect and very easy! We also made your cucumber sauce. We did make a few small changes (of course) Doubled the recipe, but used half pork that we ground and half ground turkey. Loved the texture. We also rolled the meat flat, between layers of wax paper, cut into strips and broiled. Thanks for a great recipe!! We'll be doing this again.
