This is a common meal enjoyed in Greece. It's incredibly delicious, and while it's cooking, the smell will have everyone in the house hanging around the kitchen. I find that the chicken stays moist if it is covered for the the first 20 minutes of baking. Serve with a crisp salad and crusty bread or pita.
Loved this recipe - It reminded me of Oreste's (a restaurant in Vancover) and their excellent chicken. The potatoes have great flavor from the garlic, chicken, lemon & oregano. I used tiny nugget potatoes right from the garden. Just one caution don't overcook your chicken - if it gets done ahead of the potatoes remove and seal in foil then return to oven in the baking dish 10 minutes before serving. Thanks Miss Annie great flavor, simple and the aroma MMMmm It'll be repeated!

The house did smell wonderful while this was cooking. My family was really hanging around the kitchen but when it was served they were disappointed. The smell did not follow flavor. The flavor was very subtle. The cooking time was way too short, it was another 30 minutes and even then I needed to increase the temp of the oven. Sorry, we were not satisfied.

Made this for dinner tonight...it smelled terrific while it was cooking, but neither my husband or I cared for the taste very much.
I followed the recipe exactly, but the potatoes took about 20 minutes longer than the posted time to cook all the way through, and even then they were rather soggy. I also couldn't tell that the garlic added much flavor either, and I used a large head. This recipe sounded delicious...maybe I did something wrong? If you have any suggestions, I'd love to try to make it again.
