I really liked these but hubby wasn't a fan so I have given it a four. I adored the cucumber sauce and I can see myself using it for lots of things! Thank you for a lovely recipe! Made for the Greek leg of ZWT6 (Voracious Vegebonds)

i forgot the scallions...but, these were so good, even without them. i haven't tried it as a leftover yet, but, i'll be bringing it with me to work tomorrow. my sister is going to try the same thing, but using chicken in place of the tofu, since she's not a big tofu lover

I just had this for dinner. It was yummy!!!! I haven't had lamb in about 20 years so I don't know if this taste like a real gyro, but I thought it was fantastic. Another great way to eat tofu.

Fantastic. Loved by both my husband and me. I used Cauldron brand beech smoked tofu, which is quite firm so could bypass the freezeing/dethawing tip. Lovely, now if I could get nice soft pita bread like they have in the States...

By the way, you can thaw frozen tofu faster by submerging it in boiling water: about 15 minutes for an entire package, just a few seconds if already cut into small pieces. EDIT Sorry, I tried to add a second comment and it erased my first one. My first one said something like: Wow! This is the best tofu dish I've ever had! It's just like the "real" thing without the grease. My meat-eating husband loved it too. The only changes I made were that I had to double the marinade, because the first batch was soaked up immediately on one side of the tofu, leaving the other side bare, and I added an extra teaspoon of lemon juice to the cucumber sauce to give it extra yogurt flavor.
